Email is one solution that remains pivotal to cloud services because it remains the most widely used form of cloud communication on the market. As a supportive solution, the familiarity of email allows for companies to transition to the cloud without spending extra time and resources training employees.
The bring-your-own models
Email also allows firms to explore a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) option, which lets staff members access company data on their personal mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.
Internal supportive tools for cloud also include the myriad Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, which augment cloud services. According to the source, by the end of 2014, at least 10 percent of emails will travel over an SaaS model, and by the end of 2017, this number will increase by one third.
The bring-your-own-service (BYOS) model is rising, as well. In this option, employees who are familiar with services such as Dropbox or Google Docs are allowed to utilize them in the workplace, making expensive third-party supportive software providers oftentimes superfluous.
This strategy, however, is a major security hazard still as IT managers are unable to control applications created and managed outside of the infrastructure – which is what support software is expected to optimize.
